I have 3 young great grandchildren. Two are girls.I bought this book for my great grandson, age 4, knowing that he loved “anything dinosaur”.Then I found out about two great granddaughters, 4 and 6,who were also crazy about dinos. Go figure! So….I bought two more books of course. So many illustrations. This book is not limited to just the commonly known dinosaurs. My great grandson loves it!Nephew opened book and wouldn't put it down.Great pictures. Our three year old LOVES this book. It has great pictures and is appropriate for someone his age and a little older. He especially loves the section about “gigantic” dinosaurs. I appreciate that it tells me how to pronounce all the names!Grandson loves the pictures; I love that the dino names are also spelled phonetically. It is an awesome book for a little boy that loves to look at dinosaurs! My 7 yo son absolutely loves this book. Great pics, super well-written. I also enjoyed reading it. National Geographic also editing the best!100% recommend for any child (or even adult) interested in dinosaurs. My 3 year old has had this for about 8 months and reads it nearly every day. The pictures are fantastic, and I really appreciate the pronunciation breakdown. The information is very interesting and young kid appropriate and fun. We have had no issue with the binding, maybe make sure you're buying through Amazon so you can return it if you do.+ Beautiful illustrations+ pronunciation help and “catchphrase” for each dinosaur- not bound well - book is falling apart, we’ve had it 2 weeks and I’ve already sellotaped back 20 pages! The pages just drop out.- not much information on each dinosaur and information repeats for similar looking dinos.-Text/information seems to be an afterthought, not cohesive- no flying reptile / dinosaurs. there are feathered birdlike ones but no pterodactyl/pterosaur-no marine reptile / dinosaurs like plesiosaurusDisappointed- will not get any more from this series. I’m surprised at all the positive reviews, I guess they reviewed on first impression onlyRevised - I’ve added one star because it’s actually great for putting pages up as posters on bedroom walls. My son is so happy! This was a gift for a 5-years old boy who is fascinated by dinosaurs. He can't read yet, but, he and I enjoyed an hour in a family-time setting looking at the pictures, me speaking the words, him pointing to the features and repeating the names (I had no idea a 5-years old child would articulate brontosaurus, triceratops and archaeopteryx. But what do i know, I'm only 68! The layout of the book is very good, with careful choice of colours and diagrams. that allows a child to take in a lot of information. Highly recommended for the age range 5 to 68.My 3 and a half year old loves this book. He is really into dinosaurs and has been nagging us non stop to read it to him. He already knows almost all the facts and names. Some things to point out: Unlike other reviewers our book seems well bound so maybe they have fixed that problem (bought March 2017). My son was very disappointed that there was no velociraptor featured, so if you have a 3 year old like mine that pretends to be a velociraptor for most of the day and carries his toy velociraptor round non stop, definitely be aware of that omission! We got around it by making a 'special' velociraptor page and sticking to the back of the book!! Lastly I think my son of three and a half is nearing the upper age limit of this book. It's been brilliant for him but he is already reciting most of the book by heart as there is not much detail on each page and so there is not much more for him to learn from it, saying that he does get a lot of joy just looking at the pictures and I hope that will continue for a while yet, but I think he will be asking for a more detailed one for his birthday too. This book is brilliant. I got it for my (then 2.5 year old) twins who were, and still are, obsessed with dinosaurs. This book comes off the book shelf every day. They love sitting together and looking at the pictures. I've read it with them so many times that they know loads of the dinos names now, and makes me so proud to hear them saying the hard dino names.Lucky on each page there is a break down of how to pronounce each name, making it easy for you to practice it before telling your kids the name. eg. Ree-oh-hah-sore-us for Riojasaurus. It's got lots of little facts for each dino, and a little to scale diagram showing the size difference between each particular dino compared to a 10 year old boy (they assume the little figure is Andy from Andy's Dinosaur Adventures so that's cute). This book has delighted my toddlers and I can see it's going to keep them reading for years.I bought this for my 4YO son which started showing an interest in dinosaurs recently. I got tired of trying to find out the dinosaurs' names from google,so thought this book moght help. It is really well organised with a section for each:small, big, giant, gigantic dinosaurs along with interesting facts. It is two dull.pages for each dinosaur so the pictures are nice and big and also a (sort of) phonetical spelling of the name to help us parents with the pronounciation. It also has a little grid on each page to show how big the dinosaur would have been measured against an adult along wih what they eat and a little bit of eaay wording about what the dinosaur did. It is suitable for 4 year olds with the help of a parent but older kids would also find this interesring. I will be buying more in the series.
