These organic wildflower seeds from Patriot Seeds are certified organic, Non-GMO, and can be stored for 5+ years. Once your Borage crop is thriving, the plants will continue to return each year, making your initial seed investment last longer. When you're ready to declare your food independence, buy Patriot Seeds.

Organic Wildflower: Borage Planting Instructions:
Plant Borage in a sunny or lightly shaded area, after the last frost has passed. Seeds should be sown 12" apart and covered with 1/4 inch of fine soil. Within 7-14 days, seedlings should emerge. Thin the plants to stand 18-24" apart once the seedlings are 1-2" tall. Keep plants thoroughly watered; they should get about 1" of rain a week. If it is thriving, Borage will self-sow.

Organic Wildflower: Borage Harvesting Instructions:

The best time to harvest Borage leaves is before the heat of the day, just after the morning dew has dried. Harvest the flowers before they fully open. You can eat both the flowers and the young leaves of Borage. Candy the flowers, use them as a garnish, or make into a wine. Dry Borage leaves in an area with good air circulation, out of direct sun. After a week or two, they can be stored when they are dry but still green. Discard black leaves. Stored in an air-tight container, the leaves should last for one year.

Did You Know This About Borage?
Borage is also known as starflower because of the beautiful shape of its petals. It also gives off a cucumber-like fragrance. In Ancient Rome, people would mix a tea made from borage with wine prior to combat, likely as an attempt to fortify themselves for battle.
