Cultivate delicious zucchini with our non-GMO Heirloom Grey Zucchini Summer Squash Seeds from Patriot Seeds.
Plant your squash where it can receive full sun. Squash plants love to "eat," so they need well-fertilized, rich soil that is well-drained. Fertilizing your squash as they grow will ensure a healthy, large harvest.
Sow summer squash seeds 1/2 an inch deep, and sow winter squash seeds 1 inch deep.
If you are planting in rows, seeds should be spaced 4 to 6?inches apart. Rows should be 4 to 6?feet apart. If you are planting on hills, place 3 or 4 seeds in a ring on the top of each hill, and space your hills 3 to 4 feet apart.
?
Squash have the best flavor and tenderness when picked young.
Don't just pull the fruit from the plant when harvesting; you will likely damage the plant. Cut the fruit from the plant at the stem.

You can also save seeds by using a food dehydrator. Spread the seeds out in a single layer on the dehydrator tray.
Depending on the model, you may need to put the seeds on foil so they don't fall through the trays. Drying times vary depending on the dehydrator model, but the seeds are usually dry enough in a day or two.
The key is to use the lowest available setting and keep the seeds as far away from the heat source as possible.
